This Weekend: San Jose Super Toy & Comic Book Show MARCH 9 and 10th , 2013

time tunnel feat

One of the perks of being in the Bay Area is that there are some really cool toy stores up in here. One of them, Time Tunnel Toys, even puts on a great toy show every once in a while. It goes beyond just toys, however, and includes a bunch of other cool stuff, such as celebrity appearances. This weekend will be playing host to a couple of cool cats, such as Veronica Cartwright (Alien, Invasion of the Body Snatchers) and Walter Jones (original Black Ranger).

‘More Than Human’ – Newest Web Series From

More Than Human - Main Cast feat

As I’ve stated many times before, I love web series (yes that’s the plural…I looked it up). I think they’re a great format for viewing content, as they aren’t inhibited by many of network and cable television’s many barriers. Usually my only gripe is that they don’t last long enough (I’m looking at you Misfits). Yea yea, I understand the need for money and all that important stuff, but I wants more.

The Death of BBC’s Being Human

It seems even immortals don’t live forever. BBC has officially announced the cancellation of the hit television series Being Human. The popular series about ghost, vampire, and werewolf roommates trying to remain human despite their supernatural afflictions became a bonafide hit for BBC Three, gaining a cult following since its pilot in 2008, and winning several awards, including The Writer’s Guild Award for ‘Best TV Drama Series’ in 2009, 2010 and 2012, and ‘Best Drama Series’ at the 2011 TV Choice Awards. Syfy even adapted the series for American viewers.

Warm Bodies: A Lot of Fun if You Don’t Use Your Brain

warm bodies review features

In January, I wrote a response to the Jonathan Levine film Warm Bodies, based purely on the trailers and what I had heard about the book. Well, now I have seen this film and can say that the trailers were not misleading, and what’s more they didn’t give all the jokes away (one of my biggest pet peeves with comedy trailers). Warm Bodies is, in essence, a snarky zombified adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, a Shakespeare play that I’ve always thought was overrated, but for the sake of Warm Bodies, it works quite well. (This article contains broad plot related spoilers.)

Star Wars Spinoff Subjects: The Han Solo & The Boba Fett

Well, if ever there were some characters that deserved a spin-off it was definitively these two…

After getting the vague whisper that Star Wars spin-offs were part of Disney’s grand scheme, there was little else said about it. But now, we get a glimpse of just what they have in store. And it is pretty glorious.

What’s Happening At Dark Delicacies? Lots Of Stuff Actually…

dark del feat

We’ve talked about Dark Delicacies before last year, when we took a jaunt to Los Angeles. It’s a great store in general, but especially for fans of the horror and supernatural genres. Run by an amazing couple, Dark Delicacies plays host to a number of signings and events for books, movies and more. We like to keep you updated on such things as, even if you aren’t in LA, you can pick up their merchandise online.

So, here’s what’s happening at Dark Delicacies over the next couple of months:

The Feud Can Now Cease: J.J. Abrams Seems To Direct Star Wars: Episode VII

Star Wars & Star Trek featured

In a somewhat Romeo & Juliet scenario, J.J. Abrams seems to have been chosen to direct the coveted Star Wars: Episode VII, bringing together two fueding houses both alike in dignity. Ok, I’ll stop.
